An Eco-Social Careful Political Economy: Making the Links between Care, Equality, and Climate

7.00

Contemporary Irish capitalism, and capitalism globally, relies on growth as a legitimating narrative. This article contests this entrapment in consumption and growth narratives and is firmly aligned with arguments for an alternative model of development, one that aligns climate, care, and equality. It particularly complements Seán Fearon’s article in this issue of Studies, adding to his urgent call for a post-growth political economy. It focuses on the links and interrelationships between climate, equality, and care, subjects rarely discussed as part of mainstream political economy debates.
